Hoosier Explorers Field Trip Fund

PCCU is proud to help Wayne & Henry County Public Schools fund field trips for fourth grade students with our Hoosier Explorers Fund.

Fourth Grade Students from Western Wayne Elementary School in Cambridge City observing an artisan at Connor Prairie on May 3rd, 2019

The Hoosier Explorers Fund is sponsored by Perfect Circle Credit Union to help local public schools provide a richer educational experience to their students by broadening their horizons. Our Hoosier Explorers Field Trip Fund will initially help schools pay for fourth grade field trip transportation expenses. Whether it is to one of our many excellent local destinations like the Cope Environmental Center, the Wilbur Wright Birthplace, or the Levi Coffin House; or someplace further afield like the Indiana Medical History Museum, Connor Prairie, or the Indianapolis Museum of Art, PCCU wants to help students gain a wider perspective on life that comes from exploring the world around them.

FAQ

What is the Hoosier Explorers Field Trip Fund?

The Hoosier Explorers Field Trip Fund is sponsored and funded by the Perfect Circle Credit Union. This project will provide funding for fourth grade field trips for students in Wayne and Henry County elementary schools. Potential destinations could include local sites like the Cope Environmental Center, the Wilbur Wright Birthplace, or the Levi Coffin House. Other sites might include the Indiana Medical History Museum, Connor Prairie, or the Indianapolis Museum of Art. The PCCU places no limit on where you can go or what you can experience in the state of Indiana.

Who will decide what field trips will be taken?

The selection of the field trip destination is left to the discretion of the school/school corporation. The only part that the PCCU will have in the field trip experience will be to provide reimbursement for transportation expenses related to the field trip.

What type of expenses will be reimbursed?

The school corporation will be reimbursed for the cost of the bus driver(s), associated benefit costs and fuel costs.

How does the school apply for these funds?

You can download the Funding Application Form, complete it and return it by email or USPS to Kim Welch, PCCU’s Education Director. The reimbursement form should also be returned by mail or email to Kim Welch at the conclusion of the field trip.

How will the school corporation be reimbursed?

At the completion of the field trip, the school corporation will complete and return a very simple reimbursement form to the PCCU. The PCCU will then send the school corporation a check for reimbursement of their transportation expenses.

What does the PCCU gain from sponsoring this project?

PCCU is aware that funding for school field trips for schools and parents continues to increase in cost each year. Often times, the cost of transportation is the major expense in a field trip. It is our hope that the Hoosier Explorers Field Trip Fund will lessen the financial pressure on the school and parents and allow everyone to participate that wishes to. In short, the PCCU is happy to give back to the communities they serve. The PCCU is committed to the Hoosier Explorers Field Trip Fund as a sustained and continuing effort for the future. It will be the focal point for the majority of the PCCU’s charitable giving in 2018 and beyond.

Will the PCCU use any of the school groups information in their advertising?

Yes. Information such as the name of the school, field trip location and number of students and adults that participated will be used in PCCU publications to inform credit union members about the program. At the conclusion of the field trip the PCCU would appreciate receiving individual student responses that would document their experience and what they learned on their field trip. No student names, student information or pictures of any of the participating students will be used by the PCCU in their advertising of the project without permission.
